Description of the institutes

TIE - Taos Institute Europe:
TIE is a non-profit organization affiliated with the TAOS Institute, a non-profit organization with a 20 year history ( The growing European community created a need to expand in such a way that more local issues and investments could flourish – resulting in Taos Institute Europe.

Based on concerns with the social construction of reason, knowledge, and human value, the event provides an opportunity to envision together the purposes, focus, and activities of the Taos Institute Europe. How can TIE be useful, for example, in exploring, developing and sharing ideas and practices that promote creative, appreciative and collaborative processes in a diverse range of disciplines and organizations? What kinds of organizational structures might be needed; how can dialogue across disciplines and practices be facilitated?

Institute of Sociology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic:
The Institute of Sociology is a state research institution established in its present form in 1990. It is engaged in the pursuit of research into contemporary society and in the provision of post-graduate education in the field of sociology. It conducts empirical surveys, comparative research studies, public opinion surveys, and case studies, applying modern qualitative and quantitative research methods, and it also cultivates the development of sociological theory and methodology. Research at the Institute also makes use of information, concepts and methods drawn from related scholarly fields, such as economics, law, political science, demography, social geography, and gender studies.

Narativ is a group of professionals from Brno (Czech Republic) who co-create social and relational platform spreading collaborative and dialogical practices in Czech Republic and Slovakia. As a group, they are engaged in such activities as psychotherapy, social work, education, research and the spaces in between. They keep in dialogue with various practitioners and institutes worldwide, and work together to develop dialogue across the differences. Narativ creates horizontal, non-formal and non-institutional dialogical spaces – to meet one another, their colleagues from social oriented practices, participants in their educational activities, their clients, and authors of books they translate.
